Miles Table - A Wednesday Wonder

Miles Table is a pretty well known BYOB down around South and 15th that serves homey fare in a cozy fast-casual ambience. What is probably a little less well known is that Wednesday at Miles Table is half-price burger day. Their classic burger, normally ~$12, gets discounted to a ridiculous ~$6. And yes, that comes with fries.

order at the counter

As probably evidenced by many of my previous posts, I am a sucker for a good deal on good food, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that I'm a big fan of Half-Price Burger Wednesdays. They do have 2 other burgers as part of the deal, a turkey burger and a veggie burger for those so inclined, but I am a beef purist. Order at the counter and they'll give you a number so the waiter can find you when your food is ready. Seating is first come, first serve. Though fast-casual, the service has always been great with attentive refills of the water pitcher they give you at your table.

I generally upgrade my fries to a side salad for $2 extra. The fries are crispy and delicious but getting them with a greasy burger is hard to justify. The side salad is generously dressed with a tangy dressing and goes well the rest of the meal. Rare is a true rare here, which I enjoy and always get, but good to know for anyone on the more squeamish side regarding their beef. (Sorry! Forgot to get a cross section.) Burger has some sort of special sauce on it that I enjoy, but I think it tastes better dunked into a ketchup-sriracha mixture that I make whenever I'm eating fries.

burger with fries

A had already broken keto and decided to just go all in and get fries with his burger, and the fries here are definitely worth getting. I think they might have changed their methods a little because they are crispier on the outside than I remember them being, in a good way.

Though I am a big fan, A is a little more critical of the Miles Table burger. He rates them in the "B range" of burgers he's had, saying that at its core, the Miles Table burger is just a really good burger and nothing else, aka there is no soul in it. He also says he feels like he could make something similar at home, which he counts against it. I can understand that feeling; one of things I definitely consider when ordering is "would I ever make this at home??" if yes, order something else.

I can't remember all the times I've gone to Miles Table on Wednesday, but I can count the visits on days other than Wednesday on one hand-- which probably says something.

TL;DR - Beef is cooked perfectly to temp in a solid burger and fries are crispy; what more can you ask for for $6?
